The Mod Metaverse was created to allow mod users of Galactic Civilizations II to experience the competition and community of the Metaverse, whilst still keeping their customizations. It does this by making use of an XML file produced at the end of every game of GalCiv2, as of Dark Avatar v1.7. This file is uploaded, and the data inside is used to build up the ranks of the MMV.
History
The fully functional Mod Metaverse consists of 2 parts, the web application and the desktop application. While the original web application was created by Macmatt who became Core Developer of I-Mod a long time ago, the desktop application and the improved web app were developed by the whole Team. The desktop application is important to prevent cheating.
